The Dark Stairs

The Dark Stairs is a mystery about a girl named Herculeah Jones and her friend, Meat. When Herculeah finds her dad at a creepy house called Dead Oaks he won't tell her why he's there. Then her mother has a creepy client and won't tell her what they discussed (and she usually does). Herculeah gets a little too nosey. She begins to sneak into places for discover the truth about things. To find out what happens when she is being nosey, you must read this book by Betsy Byars.

When I read this book I felt interested in the characters because they were described in depth by the author. It made me wonder what will happen next. It is a series of mystery books. I have also read another one of these books that is similar to the other books in the series. My favorite character is Herculeah because she is so nosey. She reminds me of a friend of mine.

I think you should read this book because it's a mystery book that will keep you guessing. People that like to draw conclusions should read this book. What might interest you is how people get trapped in places they don't want to be as well as the surprise twists in the story. For example, you think they're going to do something, but they don't.
