First Flight The Story of Tom Tate and the Wright Brothers

The book is about a boy named Tom Tate, his dad, Dan Tate, his uncle, Bill Tate and the Wright Brothers. Wilbur and Orville Wright made the first flight in an engine powered flight machine. The story takes place in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in the early 1900's. The Wright Brothers lived in Ohio, but they came to this beach in North Carolina because it was one of the windiest places in America and also the sand was a soft place to land. They even let Tom Tate, fly in their first glider. The Wright Brothers first made different kinds of gliders. One of them crashed, but Wilbur and Orville Wright never gave up.

I liked this book because it was interesting to read. You could learn about the Wright Brothers and their flying machine. I liked the characters Wilbur and Orville because they never really grow up. My favorite part was when Tom Tate got to fly in the first glider because I like to fly in planes. I liked the illustrations because they showed what the gliders, and Kitty Hawk looked like.

Everybody would like this book because it's exciting when they fly in the propeller plane. Anyone who likes planes would love this book.
