Indian Captive: The Story of Mary Jemison

Indian Captive is the best book I have ever read! It is about a girl named Mary Jemison. She is captured by the Seneca tribe. She misses her family and she doesn’t understand the Seneca language, but soon she learns it. Will she go back to her family or will she stay?

As I read the book I wondered what would happen. I wondered what would happen next. I was surprised when her family was captured.

I really liked the characters Shining Star and Red Bird. Shining Star is really nice. Red Bird gave Mary her first Seneca meal. They were both kind to Mary.

This story reminds me of when I left my parents to go on a trip with my grandparents for a week. I found out it is really fun like Mary did.

I recommend this book to kids in 3rd to 6th grade. They will like it because it is exciting and surprising at the end.
