Peppermints in the Parlor is about a girl named Emily whose parents died, so she had to go to Aunt Twices house, at Sugar Hill Hall. When she gets there, a girl named Tilly shows her around, and shows her, her room. Tilly says that Emily has to do work around the place, like she does. Emily doesn?t like that. Aunt Twice?s home is actually a place where old people go, if they don?t have a home. A very, very, very mean lady named, Mrs. Meeching is the one who kind of owns the place instead Aunt Twice. Emily starts talking to this person named Mrs. Plumly. They get to be friends. At the end, Mrs. Plumly is on Mrs. Meeching?s side, and is against Emily, Tilly, and Aunt Twice. Emily found another trust worthing friend, named Kipper. Kipper does not turn evil.

I thought the book was very good, because it was very mystery like. It was very mean when Mrs. Plumly was tricking Emily. One trick was that Emily found a cat. Mrs. Meeching hated cats, so if she saw Emily with the cat, she would go into the Remembrance room forever, which is where you go, if you did something bad, and you could get no water, or food. Emily showed Mrs. Plumly, the cat. Mrs. Plumly asked Emily if she could have the cat, and she said yes. Mrs. Plumly told Mrs. Meeching that Emily had a cat, so she had to go to the Remembrance room. My favorite part was when Emily, Kipper, Aunt Twice, and all the old people were having a peppermint fight (throwing peppermints) with Mrs. Meeching, and Mrs. Plumly. Mrs. Plumly changed in the book, because at first she was Emily?s best friend, and then she was trying to kill Emily. I thought Kipper was very interesting because he was acting like Emily?s enemy, because he didn?t want Tilly to expect something. Kipper was actually Emily?s friend.

I would recommend this book because it is very mysterious, and forms many questions in your mind. I think kids who like surprises, mysterious, funny, and scary books, would like Peppermints In The Parlor. I think you would love when the peppermint fight happens. That is hilarious!! The genre of the story is Fiction. To find more information, read the book, Peppermints In The Parlor!!
