Big Nate Strikes Again

Do you like cartoon books? If you do, the Big Nate series is perfect for you. Nate has a problem though with goody-two shoes Gina. For example, in the beginning, Gina makes fun of Nate because he said the girl in a picture was pretty thinking it was Jenny, the person he has a crush on, but really it was Gina. Francis and Teddy, Nate’s best friends, always tease him – like when Nate is annoyed that he is stuck working on a project with Gina and Teddy makes fun of him because of it. Nate also has a bully in his school named Randy and they play in the indoor baseball finals. It is Nate’s big chance to win, will he? Who ever wins will get bragging rights. That’s all Nate needs to prove he is better than Randy.

I like this book because has a lot of cartoons and humor. My favorite character is probably Teddy, because he is always making fun of Nate and it can be kind of silly. There is another character but he is the bully, Randy. I don’t like him because he is always bragging about how good he is. This book reminds me of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. They both are kind of “cartoony” and have the same kind of humor. If you like this book, read the rest of the series.

I think this book is appropriate for 2nd grade up to 4th grade because any younger would probably not get the humor. But the 5th and up would think it was too easy for them to read. I think the author tried to make it funny and has great illustrations. I rate this book at 5 out of 5 stars, yeah that’s how good it is.
